Hayden Kerr took his first BBL wickets in the Sydney Sixers’ win over the Melbourne Stars on Sunday night. He dismissed Peter Nevill and Hilton Cartwright with the last two balls of his first over, and was promptly removed from the attack to avoid the risk of him taking a hat-trick.
Damien Mortimer recorded his 34th First Grade innings above fifty on Saturday (68 against Sutherland), including eight centuries. During his innings he passed 8000 runs in Premier Cricket in all grades and for all his clubs. He also moved past Dr HO Rock (3899) to become the club’s tenth highest run scorer in First Grade. Dr Rock, as everyone remembers, scored 758 runs at an average of 94.75 in his six first-class games between 1924 and 1926, and is the only batsman to have a higher Sheffield Shield average than Bradman.
When Devlin Malone removed Daniel Rixon on Saturday, with a ball best described as “flighted”, it was his 350th Premier Cricket wicket in all grades.
During his innings against Sutherland on Saturday, Liam Robertson passed 5000 runs in First Grade. He’s the fifth batsman to pass this milestone for the club, and the 282nd player to reach 5000 runs in the history of the First Grade competition. His 67 against Campbelltown on Sunday was his 25th score above fifty in Firsts (including six hundreds) – and he also held his 100th catch in First Grade.
Dugald Holloway took his 150th First Grade wicket when he bowled Sutherland’s Will Straker on Saturday.
Tim Cummins, with 76 not out against Sutherland on Saturday, passed fifty in First Grade for the 22nd time (including three centuries).
Charlie Litchfield, with 25 not out against Sutherland on Saturday, recorded his first runs in First Grade.
The match against Sutherland on Saturday was Charlie Dummer’s 50th for the club in all grades.
Caelan Maladay, with 4-41 in First Grade against Sutherland, returned his best bowling figures for the club.
Ryan Danne’s 74 against Sutherland (in his 50th innings in Seconds) on Saturday was his 22nd score above fifty for the club, including four hundreds.
During his innings of 28 against Sutherland in Third Grade on Saturday, Brayden Dilley passed 2000 runs for the club in all grades. His opening partner, Matthew Powys, also passed 2000 runs in all grades. We’re going to go out on a limb here and guess that this is the first time a pair of openers have both passed 2000 runs for the club in the course of the same innings.
Andrew Hazard’s 71 against Sutherland was his highest score for the club and his first half century in Third Grade. He followed up with 5-23, his first five-wicket haul for the club and his third in Premier Cricket overall.
Daniel Gauci’s 87 against Sutherland was his highest score for the club and his first half century in Third Grade. During his innings he passed 1000 runs in all grades in Premier Cricket (915 of them for Blacktown).
Ned Barnet made his Third Grade debut, hitting 42 not out against Sutherland.
Against Sutherland on Saturday, Josh Toyer passed 500 runs in Third Grade.
The Third Grade match against Sutherland on Saturday was Liam Coelho’s 50th for the club in all grades.
Chris Roussos made his Fourth Grade debut for the club against Sutherland (having played once in Fourths for Mosman) and recorded his second successive half-century for the club, hitting 56.
Darcy Manners collected his best bowling figures in Fourths (4-38) against Sutherland on Saturday.
In the Fourth Grade match against Sutherland, Hugo Fraval scored his first runs for the club and returned his best bowling figures for the club (3-41).
Tom Foreman made his Fourth Grade debut on Saturday against Sutherland, and took his first wickets in that grade.
Reuben Kapoor made his Fifth Grade debut, hitting 68 against Sutherland.
Not a bad day out for Jazz Rinka against Sutherland in Fifth Grade. His 112 not out was his first century for the club. Besides which, he passed 500 runs for the club and, with the ball, collected his 100th wicket for the club.
