Sydney University finished the preliminary rounds of the Kingsgrove Sports T20 competition in first place in the Sydney Thunder Conference, and will now progress to the conference semi-finals on 9 January.

Nick Larkin’s 52 not out (from 43) for the Melbourne Stars against Sydney Thunder was his fifth half-century in the BBL.  He was also caught twice from deliveries called no-ball for height, which may not be a record, but doesn’t happen every day.

Jordan Gauci’s 105 against Hawkesbury on Saturday was his first century for the club, and his sixth in First Grade.  During his 33 not out against Northern District on Sunday, Jordan passed 4000 runs in First Grade (244 for University, 2201 for Blacktown, 1175 for Hawkesbury and 394 for Campbelltown).

Charlie Dummer recorded his highest First Grade score, 90 against Hawkesbury on Saturday – his eighth half-century in Firsts.  He now has First Grade scores of 88, 89 and 90 to his name.  During his innings he passed 1500 runs for the club in all grades.

The match against Hawkesbury on Saturday was Tim Cummins’ 300th Premier Cricket match in all grades, and he also passed 4500 runs in First Grade.

The match against Hawkesbury on Saturday was Devlin Malone’s 100th First Grade appearance for the club.  He joined Dave Hanlin (who opened the bowling for NSW in the late 1940s) as the 11th highest wicket-taker for the club in Firsts when he took his 197th wicket.  He also, on the same day, batted for the 100th time in Premier Cricket in all grades.  On Sunday, his match-winning spell of 3-9 in the T20 match with Northern District included his 200th First Grade wicket for the club.  He becomes the 13th player to reach that milestone for the club.  Devlin’s 3-9 against Northern District was the least expensive four-over spell for the club in the T20 competition since 2016-17, when Devlin took 3-9 from four overs against Penrith. Devlin was, however, some way short of the least expensive analysis ever recorded for University (or anyone else) in the competition, which was Tom Kierath’s 4-2-5-2 against Mosman in 2012-13.

The T20 match against Northern District on Sunday was Hayden Kerr’s 150th match for the club in all grades.

Ravi Wikramanayake’s 111 against Hawkesbury in Seconds on Saturday was his first century in Premier Cricket.  During his innings he passed 1000 runs in Second Grade (763 of them for Blacktown).

Kieran Tate took his 276th wicket for the club on Saturday, joining Jim Kazaglis as the 32nd highest wicket-taker in the club’s history.  He passed Kazaglis the following day, picking up his 277th wicket during his nerveless final over in the T20 match against Northern District.

Lewis McMahon collected his career-best bowling figures, 6-16 against Hawkesbury in Third Grade.  It was his seventh five-wicket haul for the club, six of which have been in Thirds.

Josh Toyer’s 71 not out against Hawkesbury was his fourth half-century for the club, but his first in Third Grade.

Ned Barnet and Hugo Ikeda each took his first wicket in Third Grade against Hawkesbury on Saturday.

During his innings of 34 against Hawkesbury on Saturday, Ash Cowan passed Craig Tomko (6366 runs) and Alan Crompton (6373) to become the ninth-highest run-scorer in the club’s history.  His tally now stands at 6395.

Jazz Rinka’s 76 against Hawkesbury on Saturday was not only his highest score and first half-century in Fourth Grade, but also exceeded his aggregate (74) from his previous 18 innings in Fourths.

Chris Roussos played his third innings for the club on Saturday, and scored his third half-century.  His 71 against Hawkesbury was his highest score for the club.

Lewis Ansell passed 500 runs for the club in all grades.

The club’s two Metropolitan Cup sides faced each other on Saturday.  Henry Cain (3-39) collected his best bowling figures for the club for Gold at the expense of Blue.  Tushar Sharma (56 not out) hit his second half-century and highest score for the club, while Jack Manson-Lill (5-30) returned his first five-wicket haul for the club.  Raphael Giles’ 69 was his second half-century for the club.
