A win over Gordon on Saturday put Second Grade into the finals. It’s the 23rd time Seconds have reached the playoffs since finals were introduced in 1952.
Charles Litchfield celebrated his 100th match for the club with his second century in Second Grade (100 against Gordon) – his seventh hundred in all grades for the club.
During his innings against Gordon on Saturday, Ryan Danne passed 4000 runs in all grades for the club.
Peter Brazel made his Second Grade debut in the match against Gordon, taking his first wicket in the grade.
Rex Greaves played his 50th match for the club in all grades.
Despite Saturday’s washout, Third Grade has reached the finals. It will be the club’s 25th appearance in the Third Grade finals.
Fourth Grade reached the finals after a nerve-wracking win over Gordon. It will be the club’s 21st appearance in the Fourth Grade finals.
Noah Bloch’s match-winning 47 not out in Fourth Grade was his highest score for the club.
Lewis Ansell’s 3-28 against Gordon equalled his best return with the ball for the club. He also collected his 50th wicket for the club in all grades.
Despite a loss to University of NSW on Sunday, the Metropolitan Cup team advances to the semi-finals next week as the highest-placed loser.
